Dynafire is an ASIB (Automatic Sprinkler Inspection Bureau) accredited fire protection engineering firm, located in Port Elizabeth. Our fire protection sprinkler system design and installation process complies to international standards and adapted to South African building, construction techniques and climatic conditions and adhering to the South African fire safety policy.
Services
Automatic Fire Sprinkler Systems
Include a series of connected pipes and fittings, with valves, alarm initiating devices, and automatic sprinklers that are supplied by reliable water supply. When a blaze ignites, the air directly above it heats rapidly. Most sprinkler heads feature a glass bulb filled with a glycerine-based liquid. This liquid expands when it comes in contact with air heated to between 135 and 165 degrees.
Automatic medium velocity spray systems
MV systems are mainly used to protect structures, plant and storage vessels from radiated heat and direct flame impingement. Typical applications include: the complete external surface protection of bulk
liquefied gas pressure vessels to prevent container failure and the resultant BLEVE (boiling liquid expanding vapour explosion); bulk flammable liquid storage tanks; structures supporting hazardous plant and equipment such as conveyors. In addition, fire prevention may be achieved particularly where flammable gas leaks are likely to occur. The action of the spray on the leak will help to dissipate the gas more quickly and prevent concentrations from reaching their flammable limits.
Automatic high-velocity spray systems
HV systems are mainly used to extinguish fires involving oils or similar combustible liquids. Oil-filled electrical equipment such as transformers, or lubrication systems on steam driven turbines are generally protected by HV systems.
Extinguishment of fires by HVs is achieved by a combination of the following:
- Cooling of the burning oil surface reduces the vaporisation rate
- Steam generated in the fire zone causes a smothering effect through oxygen displacement
- Dilution of the burning product. A water miscible product eg: alcohol, can be diluted to a level where it will no longer burn.
- Emulsification through the bombardment of the surface of the product by thehigh velocity water droplets. The emulsion formed consists either of globules of oil suspended in water or globules of water suspended in oil. The effect is temporary and the mixture will separate again in time.
Manual fire hydrant systems
This is very effective extinguishing system suitable for various plants and high-rise buildings as well as commercial complexes. The system mainly consists of water storage reservoir (underground or aboveground), pump set, piping ring around the building and terminals inside the building, hydrant valves, hoses, branch pipes with nozzles and hose boxes. On the ring main the hydrant stand posts are provided with hydrant valves.
Manual fire hose reel systems
Fire hose reel systems consist of pumps, pipes, water supply and hose reels located strategically in a building, ensuring proper coverage of water to combat a fire.
The system is manually operated and activated by opening a valve enabling the water to flow into the hose that is typically 30 meters away. The system pressure loss will activate the pump ensuring adequate water flow and pressure to provide a water jet of typically a minimum of 10 meters from the nozzle.
Automatic foam induction systems
The automatic inductor on the suction side of the pump maintains the appropriate foam liquid quantity in the water stream. Water pressure of foam liquid suction ports are provided at the side of the automatic foam inductor unit. Water under pressure from the discharge side of the pump enters the pressure port inducing foam liquid from the tank through the foam liquid suction port.
Fire pumps and reservoirs
A fire pump is a part of a fire sprinkler system’s water supply and powered by electric, diesel or steam. The pump intake is either connected to the public underground water supply piping, or a static water source (e.g., tank, reservoir, lake). The pump provides water flow at a higher pressure to the sprinkler system risers and hose standpipes.
Automatic fire detection systems
An automatic fire detection and alarm system generally provides a network of manual call points, fire sensors and alarm warning devices over the area covered. It allows one to constantly monitor the building and warn if a fire breaks out, or is suspected.
Manual fire alarm systems
These fire alarms have pull stations stationed around your building. When a fire is seen or smelled by one of your employees, they simply pull the lever and alert the occupants. Manual alarms come in a variety of designs and colours.
Evacuation systems
In the event of a fire, building occupants need to be alerted quickly so they can take prompt action to control the fire from spreading. The emergency warning and intercom systems are a means of communication to assist in the control of evacuation procedures during emergency situations.
If a Detection and/or Suppression system alarm goes off, the selected warning signal (audible and / or visual) will be automatically activated on those floors where the alert originated.
Maintenance and testing services
Dynafire ensures that your fire alarm, fire pump or sprinkler system remains fully operational and up to date. We work with you to schedule our technicians for regular maintenance appointments.
Passive fire protection installations
Passive fire protection (PFP) is an integral component of the components of structural fire protection and fire safety in a building. PFP attempts to contain fires or slow the spread, for example; fire-resistant walls, floors, and doors.
Commercial fire protection
Fire safety is of utmost importance for commercial property and fixed fire protection is a vital component to any property. Dynafire offers a fire suppression system to prevent or minimize damage that works in tangent with fire sprinklers to lower damage that may occur.
Dynafire understands that appearance and aesthetics are important to your overall design of your property. Dynafire ensures that sprinkler heads are mounted flush with walls or ceilings and can be covered with an appealing, decorative cover. The concealed sprinkler head cover is specifically designed to deliver an aesthetic appeal ensuring the sprinkler is less obtrusive and is available in a range of colours to suit your needs.
Warehouse / Storage Protection
Vertical cube utilization – Dynafire ensures provides you with a compliant and utilized vertical system through intelligent fire engineering and design to save you costs and of course a safer storage unit or warehouse. Dynafire uses supplementary sprinklers within the racks or shelves. Early suppression fast response (ESFR) systems are fast responding, high volume sprinkler systems that provide exceptional protection for high piled storage spaces
Dyanfire offers flexible solutions to suit your requirements while remaining compliant with the fire safety policies of South Africa. We use high-quality components in all fire protection system designs tailored to your specific requirements. Dyanfire, your first choice fire engineering and protection provider.
